Beyond GED

SINCE 2023, GHPN offers OPPORTUNITY YOUTH (AGE 16 - 24) GED CLASSES and testing preparation on-site, with the support of a trusted educator and mentor.

As an organization, we recognize that traditional school settings and schedules do not work for all youth. In response, we have created a comprehensive program that meets educational needs and assists individuals with addressing individual circumstances, adverse experiences, and stressors, so that youth may focus on their studies.

Beyond GED offers opportunity youth (ages 16-24) GED classes through a comprehensive program that meets educational needs and assists with addressing individual circumstances, adverse experiences, and stressors, so that youth may focus on their studies. In 2024, we welcomed Director of Post-Secondary Success, Jes Sweat to our team; in this role, Jes is able to build relationships and develop individualized plans with each student to ensure they receive all of the resources, supports, and accommodations necessary to overcome potential barriers to achieving academic and career goals.

Enrolled students receive:

  • a paid stipend (for hours spent with tutor/teacher at GHPN)

  • a hot meal on study days

  • internship(s) and/or job placement assistance

  • personalized support identifying other barriers to academic and career success

  • resources and referrals to address challenges and achieve goals

In 2025, we partnered with the Spark of Hudson to begin offering professional driving lessons regularly, helping several enrolled students to confidently schedule road tests and/or obtain driver’s licenses.
