TeamTam After-School Program

ONE OF promise’s flagship PROGRAMS, TEAMTAM AFTER-SCHOOL PROVIDES promise scholars and their families A SAFE AND FUN PLACE TO SPEND TIME DURING IMPORTANT TRANSITIONAL HOURS.

TeamTam After-School is a free program for school-aged children in the Hudson City School District. Youth arrive by school bus or parent drop off daily and are greeted by familiar staff to engage in a structured, but fun, routine. Promise works with diverse partner organizations to offer opportunities for after-school enrichment to families for whom extra-curriculars are cost-prohibitive or otherwise inaccessible. Whenever possible, programming options and scheduling decisions are scholar-led, including a youth interview process in which enrolled children meet with prospective partners and volunteers.

Every day, TeamTam offers time and space for homework help, a hot meal/snack for each child, and enriching weekly activities through community partnerships. All Promise scholars read independently or as a group for a minimum of twenty minutes per day.

2025-2026 academic year partnerships include: Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, Cross Photography, Flying Deer Nature Center, Old Chatham Tennis Club, Moving Potential, and WaveFarm Radio (WGXC 90.7FM). Schedule and current partners change regularly; enrolled parents can request updated schedules from Staff as needed.

TeamTam Summer “After-Camp” Program

We understand the importance of consistency and the need for families to have access to safe spaces for children not just throughout the academic year, but during the extended summer break as well.

Each summer, after the Fourth of July, Promise opens the TeamTam Summer Program for youth/families enrolled in the previous or upcoming academic year. Transportation from Oakdale is available daily (after camp lets out) or youth may be dropped off at 2:30PM, Monday through Friday.

The Summer Program ends August 22, 2026, and GHPN will be closed August 24-28th to prepare for the upcoming academic year.

History

Originally developed to meet an immediate, organically identified need, the After-School Program launched in 2015 on 2nd Street, providing a safe and welcoming space for youth age 5-15 after school hours. Since moving to Warren Street, Promise continues to provide a newly renovated space inside the historic church, with the same warmth and healthy snack daily.

Formerly named Promise After-School, our daily program or school-aged children was renamed “TeamTam After-School” in honor of the late Tamarah Jones. Tamarah Jones was a lifelong, dedicated member of the Hudson community and served most recently in a professional capacity at Promise as a Family Advocate.
