Early Learning and Literacy Network (ELLN)
Coordinated by the Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood, the Early Learning and Literacy Network (ELLN) is a longstanding collaborative network of partnering organizations across Columbia County. Officially formed in 2018, ELLN partners committed to the shared goal of increasing literacy skills in young children locally, starting at birth.
ELLN focuses on providing support to families and children as well as organizations in Columbia County to support and/or improve the literacy skills of infants, toddlers, and preschoolers so that children in our community enter kindergarten on track and ready to learn.
In 2020, local businesses and community leaders announced their participation, led by ELLN in partnership with Columbia Opportunities, in a national campaign to boost the early learning and brain development of children from birth through age five. The “Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing” campaign is part of Too Small to Fail, the early childhood initiative of the Clinton Foundation.
ELLN meets quarterly and works with the community to distribute activity kits, books, signage, and information to families throughout the county. Our goal is to ensure that every child has access to the tools they need to thrive in their early education.
There are currently 19 ELLN members. Interested in joining or learning more? Reach out today!
